IQ.Web Helps Menlo College Excel at Multiple Levels

Just south of Menlo College is Silicon Valley, a region where high-tech innovation is transforming the ways in which we live and work. Today's fast-paced high-tech marketplace demands a new breed of leaders. Menlo College, an independent, coeducational, nonsectarian institution, provides these leaders with the education and technology they need to meet such demands.

Already a proud user of the PowerCAMPUS solutions since 1999, Menlo College licensed IQ.Web in 2000, to provide the institution's students, faculty, and administrators with "anytime, anywhere" access to information services, while leveraging the information management capabilities of the PowerCAMPUS solution.

Users no longer have to stand in lines and fill out forms, freeing administrators to focus on improving the quality of constituency services and the processing of information critical to institutional operations.

IQ.Web enables users to set up a personalized "calendar" with an integrated schedule and events calendar and links to Web sites. IQ.Web's role based navigation menus enable users to access appropriate information from the PowerCAMPUS SQL Server database and the academic and community functionality available in the IQ.Web application as well as external Internet resources.

Students - Promoting Individual Achievement through Self-Service

"When choosing a college, students look for services which make the educational experience more convenient and productive. As the years progress, the students rely more and more on computers. With IQ.Web, we are meeting the needs of students, while keeping pace with our competitors" said Blair Simmons, Director of Information Technology.

IQ.Web allows Menlo's students to broaden their academic experience, access important information, and communicate to others within the academic community. Using a standard web browser, students can easily access academic information such as their course schedules, grades, unofficial transcripts, current balances, account history and financial aid. Students can develop and view academic plans online, search for courses that they are interested in taking using a number of different search criteria, register, and pay online safely and securely. Additionally, students can communicate with their classmates and faculty members through the Collaboration Center on each of their Course Homepages.

Today every student at Menlo College has their very own IQ.Web account.

Faculty - Fostering the Education Community

Menlo offered online services to its faculty in August 2001. "Having the ability to take attendance, submit grades, and review advisee information online, our faculty is able to interface with students more effectively," said Simmons.

Menlo's faculty uses IQ.Web to disseminate information to students, access information about courses and the students enrolled in them, and communicate to others within the academic community. Using a standard web browser, faculty advises students, posts course materials to a Course Homepage, records attendance, posts grades to the Registrar's Office, and much more.

Administrators - Enhance Institutional Performance

Using IQ.Web with a standard internet browser, administrators can effectively perform many daily tasks directly online. Such tasks include: create roles, define what roles have access to which areas of IQ.Web, assigning delegate roles to substitute users, manage user accounts by having the ability to create accounts, assign passwords unlock accounts, review information entered on online forms, and set up credit card transaction types, for processing credit card transactions.

Administrative offices are freed from routine workloads, enabling them to improve customer service in person, as well as provide convenient access to information critical to their own success.

"Using the information that is submitted interactively, our administration has the capacity to track student enrollment and project revenues in real time," said Simmons.

Due to the Late Registration option, Menlo College's enrollment has greatly benefited. "There has been a 15% higher enrollment by the late deadline of returning students.we accredit this in part to the web registration feature on IQ.Web," said Simmons.

Future IQ.Web Plans

Menlo's students, faculty and administration are benefiting from IQ.Web. "Users have information at their fingertips, rather than relying on administrators to produce hard copies. There are fewer steps to get what you need. We intend to roll out more features of IQ.Web. Menlo is very happy with the results!" said Simmons.
