On July 22, SCT released the SCT Luminis Platform III, a major component of the SCT Luminis product family that delivers significant enhancements to portal, infrastructure, and applications technologies for higher education. The new release facilitates greater constituent collaboration and gives institutions more administrative control. It also supports future digital campus growth by broadening institutional development capabilities and laying the foundation for forthcoming content management, data integration, and SCT Luminis Software Development Kit (SDK) releases.
SCT Luminis Platform III has enhanced collaboration tools by streamlining campus communications, offering further support for e-learning, and strengthening the power of customized forums that enable members of campus groups and courses to interact online. New file sharing capabilities allow course and group members to work on projects from a central point so that everyone has access to the most current information. Group hierarchy functionality — the ability to create subgroups — supports more effective communication to and among group members. End users can now search for a particular e-mail message or an entry within their address book. They can establish private groups by establishing certain criteria to join and rejecting inappropriate attendees. They can easily resolve calendar conflicts and upload and share certain files.
SCT Luminis Platform III not only gives constituents greater control but also gives administrators greater authority in determining how their computing environments are configured through the incorporation of Kerberos authentication support, updated Windows platform support, and the framework for the SCT Luminis Software Development Kits.
