President’s Message - Hello from SETA!
Judy Arnold, President, SETA Board of Directors
University of Alabama
We have had a busy and productive 2004 in the SETA organization. We feel that our SETA SE and SETA West regional conferences are well established. We held the first SETA Central this year and are organizing for SETA Midwest and SETA Southeast as this letter goes to press. SETA members will now have 5 great conference locations and a range of dates to choose from--please see the other articles in the newsletter for more exciting details about each conference!
Three SETA Board members rotate off the board this year. Nominations have been received and elections will be held in February for the vacant positions. Kim Roberts left the board in December before her term was up on June 30 to assume a new position with SunGard SCT. We wish Kim good luck in her new job as project manger for Banner implementations!
We have so many wonderful volunteers in our organization, with so much valuable knowledge to share-thank you to everyone! We have received nominations for the Mark Barton Leadership Award and the Gunnell Nelson Service Award. The recipients of these awards will be announced at the SETA Business meeting at Summit. Be sure to check your SUMMIT schedule for the time and place.
Bob Schneider, SETA Board Secretary from Western Washington University, provides this report on the code repository:
SETA, in conjunction with SunGard SCT, will release a Code Repository within the next 6 months. This Repository is a web site where SETA members can post locally developed code, and search for software developed by other SETA members, download it, install it, and deliver that software to their campus community. SETA has been working closely with SunGard SCT to develop this Code Repository. We are currently working on identifying what channels should be included. At the time of this writing we are hoping we will be able to show some of the Code Repository at Summit 05.
SETA is looking forward to an exciting year! I hope to see you at a SETA conference in 2005: Tampa, Louisville, Little Rock, Boston or Salt Lake City-and maybe in a grass skirt in Hawaii!
